My lipstick palette |
I'm so excited to show you my custom lipstick palette that I made for myself 2 days ago. Isn't it qute? I love it! You will not believe where I found this little box with separate compartment that open individually (I love that feature so much more than when there's a one big common lid closing the whole thing. Much neater and you don't mess around the other colors)! So, where did I find it? ...In the fishing equipment store! Yep! And it cost just around $2, even less actually. I'm pretty sure you can find something similar in different stores. This one was just the perfect size.
How to make such palette? Very simple. Take the lipstick that you want to depot, take a small spatula or a coffee spoon or something of that sort, cut a half of your lipstick with it or take it from the inside of the tube where the base of it is (in case you used it up almost completely) and simply put it in one of the small compartments. You can also label them if you want to. That's it!
What makes this palette so great:
- This baby is SMAAAAAALL and compact! You can see in the picture below that it is about 2/3 of my palm. And my palm is small. To compare with full-sized lipstick tube, it would be about the size of 3 tubes, but twice thinner and will have 8 colors instead of 3. So, who can disagree on how compact this is?
- It's awesome for depoting addicts. If you're like me and feel like your makeup storage space becomes less and less adequate to accommodate all of your old and new lipsticks, or you're a makeup artist and need to save space and have a lot of different products at hand, than this is for you. It is especially handy if you have a few of your favorite lipsticks that you've used up but feel bad throwing away because the color is discontinued and you don't want to waste the left product that is in the base of the tube. Especially if it is your favorite color.
- It's custom-made, so it's personalized and great for travel. Do I even need to explain this point? You can create your own mini collection of your favorite colors and take with you on a trip. Here I've got all my nudes and other pinkish my-lips-but-better colors + a great coral + a glamorous red. In a way, I have a whole lip wardrobe I might ever need on a daily basis. I have yet to try it out during traveling. Can't wait! The only thing you need though is a lip brush if you feel uncomfortable using your fingers.
- It doubles as a cheek palette. Ok. Because it is in a palette form you can easily use it as a cream blush palette. This old Mom's trick is still live today and is still being well used even by the greatest makeup artists. Again, it's perfect for travel.
I realize that you wouldn't depot your fancy expensive Chanel or YSL favorite lipstick, since you enjoy the packaging and just the whole experience of taking it out of your purse and touching up your lips with this beautiful tube. I totally understand that and I think you shouldn't depot such lipsticks. But this method is great for depoting old lipsticks, saving space and creating your travel lipstick palette.
So, what do you think about this method? Have you tried to do anything like this? Would you like to depot any of your lipsticks? Please, share your thoughts in the comments. I would love to hear them.
