Ridiculously Simple Trick on How To Store/Sort Your Makeup Brushes

How to Store/Sort Makeup Brushes

Have you ever had times in the morning when you are late already, yet you are frantically trying to find this tiny liner or whichever other small brush amongst your other bigger brushes that are all stuffed in one jar together just to finish your makeup, and you just can't find it, which, of course, drives you mad and you're almost hating and cursing the brush? No? Then lucky you. If yes, then welcome to the normal women club :).

I've had those moments. Finally, one of them made me rethink how I store my brushes. I am pretty sure that the TIP I'm going to share now is not even a TIP but the most obvious thing on earth to do with your brushes if you have more than ... like 3 brushes... but you know there will always be such idiots like me who would have to try all the wrong variants until they will get the revelation :).

Here's the thing. I used to store all my brushes together in 1 big jar. It became a problem once I started to have too many of them to fit in 1 jar, so I got another one, BUT unlike all the normal people I was sorting them in those jars in all the wrong ways. I would split them like this:
  • dirty brushes go in 1 jar, clean  in the other one, or
  • synthetic brushes go in 1 jar, natural - in the other, or
  • one particular brand goes in 1 jar, others - in the other, or
  • most used ones go in 1 jar, the rest - in the other.
That resulted in me always trying to find the smallest brushes among the thick big ones for the face and failing like an idiot (doh!), because they were impossible to see among the fat brush heads of the face brushes just because they are super skinny and usually can be even shorter than others (Wayne Goss tiny brush for tightlining, I'm talking about you here!). So, I figured why not just put all the small/eye brushes into 1 jar and all the big ones - in the other? YES! Finally, since then my life has changed to the better dramatically. I can now easily find/see any of the smallest brushes I have in no time. And, as a bonus, I stopped being an idiot in storing my brushes.

I know, this is funny. Yes, go ahead, throw tomatos at me, I know! But if you're like me, you might want to try the trick too, and judging by the pictures online, I bet I'm not the only one :). So give this super simple trick a go and let me know how it works for you.

I hope this post was... if not useful, than, at least, fun to read :). Share your thoughts in the comments below and have a great day.

...By the way, this is my FOTD (not of today though, but the other day...) with simple neutral eyes and bright pink-coral summer lips.

Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils: Review And Swatches

Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil

As I proised here comes a beauty post, finally )). I've had these lip pencils for a while now, since around winter, so they've been around for quite a while now. However, I did want to post this review because I think they are among the great affordable pieces of beauty in the drugstore world.

I'll talk about the Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils. Gosh, I hate such pointlessly long names (facepalm)... Anyway, these pencils are great, especially for such a ridiculous price.

The formula of them is somewhere between a lip pencil and a matte lipstick. It is kind of dry, yet creamy. What I mean by that, is that it is not one of those typical supercreamy-balmy type jumbo lip pencils out there. It is significantly drier than those, yet they glide on beautifully without drying your lips. Perfect, right? I thought so too, they are mostly satin finish, except for one shade that I noticed having a bit of shimmer, but it is quite pretty and not glittery or frosty at all. They stain the lips a bit and wear for a decent amount of time. I wouldn't go as far to say that they are the most longlasting lip products out there, but they are definitely more longlasting than your average lipstick thanks to the formula and finish. They are super pigmented as well, so 2 thumbs up for that. They can also double as your lip liner since you can/have to sharpen them, which is nice (or maybe not so nice for someone not wanting to bother, but it is something to keep in mind). So all of you, lovers of satin or matte lips, you can save your pennies and go grab a bunch of those pencils. They are lovely, indeed, and, I'm sure, can be duplicates for some similar lip products from some high-end brands (I'm sure, there are tons of posts on this already).

Below are the swatches of the 3 shades I picked up. It should give you a pretty good idea on how pigmented the lip pencils are and how different types of shades translate onto the lips.

As you can see the Minimalist (light pink) is that shade that I metioned having some perlescent shimmer. The Light It Up (bright red) in the middle is ver very bright and in the below lip swatches I blotted it quite a bit because I was just going to work and it was waaay to bright for me to wear at work (funny, I'm saying this), but keep in mind that what you see on my lips in that swatch of red is just about 30% of the actual brightness you'll really get with it. It is indeed very beautiful and bright, so the shade name is spot on with that.

So below are the lip swatches.

I hope you liked these babies and are finding the way to enjoy your day today. Leave your thoughts in the comments below, I'd love to hear them. Let me know if you've tried these pencils and if you like them.

Thank you for stopping by. Cheers.

Painting - Part 4 and 5. Flowers and Birds

Hello, lovelies. Happy summer everyone! Aren't you glad that summer is here? I definitely am. I know, it's been ages since I last blogged and you probably forgot about my blog altogether, but I'm still here and I'm back.

Today I just want to update you on my latest 2 paintings, which are different from what I painted previously, but I like them. One is a painting of flowers and the other one was supposed to be something spring inspired, so I thought that those birds would look lovely and happy and fresh, so enjoy.
